For our first quiz in this class we were assigned to take 15 pictures of either one or two inanimate objects. We were also permitted to use a human character. Out of the 15 pictures 11 shots or angles were required, the other 4 were up to the judgment of my partner and I.
Immediately after my partner and I sat down to brainstorm, she pulled out a water bottle and asked if we could use it. I looked at that plastic water bottle and I thought back to the story of the The Velveteen Rabbit by Margery Williams. I liked the idea that the water bottle everyone overlooks was alive and waiting for its purpose. The only thing our main subject didn't think about was what would happen to it once it was drained of it usefulness. We decided the best place to accomplish this vision would be outside near the vending machines to show just how quickly the water bottle's purpose evaporated.
I think I did a good job of making the water bottle, that doesn't have a face, express emotions. In fact my favorite shot is the extreme long shot where the water bottle was crumpled up and laying next to a trashcan. I feel like that shot makes the water bottle look small and alone. I do think I did well overall; however, I would have loved to do shots inside the vending machine. Unfortunately that was impossible due to lack of time and ability to open the vending machine. I also think I could have done a better job at keeping focus on the water bottle.
