Filming is finished!

In my last post I said that I had completed filming for my project but I wanted to to talk a little but more about some of the challenges during the filming process. But first here is a screenshot of my camera roll with all the different takes!

Before filming I planned everything out, inevitably some things didn't go according to that plan. There were a few main issues. One thing that caused an issue was that it took WAY longer than I originally thought it would to film the takes of the younger version of the characters. We started really late because even though the girls agreed to it, when their mom dropped them off she didn't know what was happening. That was entirely my fault, I should've talked to her directly instead of asking the girls to confirm that it was okay. Eventually she agreed to let them do the scene. Another set back with this scene was that I planed for it to be at most 30 minutes of filming, but no matter how much I explained what I wanted them to do, it wasn't exactly what I wanted. I eventually got a product I was happy with. The reason why this was such a setback was because I was planning on filming other scenes that day, but by the time they went home it was almost midnight and honestly I wanted to go to bed.

This is a screenshot of me showing one of the girls what she should do.

Even though this was inconvenient, I was able to catch up by filming the scenes I wanted to film on a day I had extra time. I ended up filming those particular shots after my cheer practice so that's why I was in my cheer uniform in some of the behind the scenes shots.

This is a photo of me making sure the camera was straight in my cheer uniform.

Another thing that went wrong was I didn't account for the mirror in the bathroom, I know I should have but I just didn't think about it when planning. I needed to find an angle that showed all the makeup, without my phone being in the shot.

This is an example of one shot where my phone was in the screen.

I also didn't realize how much the makeup would irritate my eyes. They were watering the entire time I was trying to film. Because of this I had to redo my makeup in between shots, by the time I was done filming my eyes were completely red.

this is a picture I took showing how my makeup had already come off and how my eyes were irritated from it. (don't mind the bad angle, I only took one photo but I felt I needed to include this part of the process in my blog)

Final thoughts:
Despite these few challenges, I'm really happy with the shots I got and excited to edit! I also wanted to say how thankful I am for all the actresses who agreed to be a part of this. I'm especially thankful for my sister who was initially reluctant to help with this, but eventually agreed. I honestly learned a lot and had a great time filming this. I can't wait to see the final product!
